Imagination: we need it now

My heart goes out to all those suffering in the NSW floods. Especially those whose homes have been inundated multiple times.

We’ve seen it all before, too often.

How do we solve problems that just won’t go away? What power do we have when we can’t command the sky to stop shedding its tears? And the wind to cease its howling?

I don’t know the answers, I don’t think anyone does. All I do know is we need imagination to tackle the most significant problems our world faces. Among them flood, fire, climate change, war, poverty, food insecurity, even the rising cost of living and housing for all.

Inherent in imagination is hope and a sense of optimism, that we might get to a better place if only we follow our imaginations. And as our minds wander and a lightbulb turns bright as we connect with our most creative and innovative ideas, I hope we’ll be ready and willing to share them with others to lay the foundations for positive change.
